Feasibility Study

The aim of Healthcare Skill's Feasibility Study was to provide advice and support on the screengrab of application interfacetechnologies that will allow them to transition from traditional methods of training to online delivery.

The deliverables of the feasibility study were:

  • A report outlining recommendations on technologies to be adopted.
  • Support and advice whilst transitioning the first course using the Moodle learning management system (LMS).

The outcome

From the beginning of the feasibility study HST were keen that a member of their staff learn to use Moodle and take on the role of Moodle administrator. With our support they carried out the majority of tasks required to get the first course up and running. This included creating and updating material, creating interactive quizzes and undertaking general administrative tasks such as adding users and setting roles.  To help with these tasks we provided example code for particular tasks or problems, created user guides and directed them to useful online resources. In addition to assistance and training we demonstrated advanced features in Moodle such as creating multi language pages that display in the users selected language and the customisation functions to use when designing course layouts and material at a later date.

During the feasibility study period the company piloted the online course with their staff. This provided positive feedback and gave them confidence to run the online course with one of their clients, again yielding positive results.

Finally we advised HST on possible technologies to help manage their client base and course material so that it is kept up to date, consistent and available to staff who are often geographically dispersed and to also ensure that versions of course material within Moodle are the same whatever language they have been translated to.
